Medical Cannabis
Medicinal cannabis has been legal in the UK since November 2018 for patients who receive a private prescription from a specialist doctor. It may be considered for certain patients where conventional treatments have not provided sufficient relief.
Medical Cannabis at Procters Pharmacy
Procters Pharmacy has partnered with Curaleaf Laboratories to help patients access prescribed medicinal cannabis through a safe, confidential and professionally managed service.
Curaleaf’s specialist clinic conducts the assessment and consultation online. Where treatment is prescribed, the private prescription is sent to Procters Pharmacy for dispensing.

How is medicinal cannabis different from CBD products?
CBD oils and supplements available over the counter are generally sold as food supplements rather than licensed medicines. They often contain much lower levels of active cannabinoids.
Prescribed medicinal cannabis may contain THC, CBD and other naturally occurring compounds, including cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids.
These medicines are prescribed following a specialist clinical assessment and are dispensed under professional supervision. The treatment and dosage are selected according to the individual patient’s circumstances and medical needs.
